GROUNDWATER COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL

24th - 26th July 2020

Groundwater Country Music Festival is a free to attend festival hosted in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast on July 24 to 26, 2020 with international and Australian artists headlining. The event is set on stages in the streets and parks of Broadbeach next to the beach.

The beachside event showcases premier country music performers on a number of outdoor stages and in venues throughout Broadbeach. The incredible line-up will feature more than 40 artists, plus roving entertainment, markets and more.

Queen + Adam Lambert: The Rhapsody Tour 2020

The soaring success of the film Bohemian Rhapsody, the highest grossing music biopic of all time, has proven that the love for Queen remains as strong as ever. Lifelong Australian fans and new converts will be thrilled with the news that Queen original band members Brian May and Roger Taylor are teaming up once more with longtime frontman Adam Lambert on lead vocals and returning to Australia in February 2020 for 6 giant stadium shows with a brand-new, spectacular production. 

This incredible Stadium tour is coming to the Gold Coast on Saturday 29 February 2020 and will rock Metricon Stadium like you have never seen before.

Sand Safari Arts Festival

14th February - 1st March 2020

Kings and Queens of the castle will converge on Surfers Paradise as the annual Sand Safari Arts Festival returns to celebrate all things sand and sea, transforming the iconic foreshore into a family-friendly fantasy sandscape. 

An initiative of Surfers Paradise Alliance, the free event will commence with the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships where spectators are invited to witness the nation’s best professional sculptors as they carve mesmerising, life-sized masterpieces from 10 tonnes of sand.

GOLD COAST MARATHON

Run for the good times at the 42nd Gold Coast Marathon on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July 2020 on the beautiful Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.

The world class international marathon will attract 27,000 participants of all ages and abilities from over 50 countries across eight races including the Gold Coast Marathon, Wheelchair Marathon, ASICS Half Marathon, Wheelchair 15 kilometre, Southern Cross University 10 kilometre Run, Gold Coast Airport Fun Run, Garmin 4 kilometre Junior Dash and Garmin 2 kilometre Junior Dash.

The Gold Coast Marathon, an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, is the pinnacle of road running events in Australia and during its 40-year history has distinguished itself as one of the most prestigious marathons in the world.

Its famous flat, fast and scenic course located alongside the city’s renowned surf beaches and stunning broadwater plus ideal winter running conditions featuring low humidity, little wind and mild temperatures result in 60 per cent of participants achieving personal best times each year.

SWELL SCULPTURE FESTIVAL

Experience monumental and memorable sculpture at the 18th annual SWELL Sculpture Festival. Set amongst the iconic landscape at Currumbin Beach, explore works of art built by distinguished local, national and international artists. 

For 10 days, wander and weave amongst distinctive, thought provoking, intriguing and whimsical sculpted works. This magnificent outdoor gallery presents the occasion to enjoy guided twilight walks and artist talks. Visitors can get in touch with their inner artist and participate in artist master classes and children's workshops. 

This exhibition is free to the public and open all hours with a selection of sculptures revealing a new verve as they light up under the southern sky.

The 25thd celebration of the annual Gold Coast World Masters hosted on Queensland's most famous stretch of coastline – the Gold Coast has earned a reputation as Australia’s best tournament for club golfers. 

The Gold Coast World Masters gives every day golfers the experience of competing in a major professional tournament. Flights, accommodation, airport pick-up, transfers to courses, golf club valet, live scoring and playing for major prizes are among the services and experiences unique to this event.

The 18th annual Gold Coast Film Festival will run from 15th - 26th April across the Gold Coast. 

Walk the red carpet on opening night alongside actors, filmmakers and film crew. Learn from Australia's leading producers, writers and directors in intimate seminars and workshops. Be captivated by internationally acclaimed dramas, comedies and genre films, local indie gems, engaging documentaries, family features, and the scariest horror films. 

As the City's flagship film event, the Gold Coast Film Festival brings film to life in a distinctly Gold Coast way for local and visiting audiences and to help grow and support Queensland’s screen industry from one of Australia's top filmmaking destinations - the Gold Coast.

Special events include the Women in Film Lunch, Movie & Music Trivia, free outdoor film screenings, industry panels and workshops, and SIPFest, the annual short film competition transforming Surfers Paradise beach into a vibrant and unique cinema featuring 12 cinematic masterpieces by emerging filmmakers from around Australia. YScreen - a selection of entertaining and intelligent films and workshops for children and teens is open to schools and families.

Bleach* Festival has attracted more than 470,000 people since its inaugural year in 2012. The program features work across all genres including dance, theatre, contemporary music, opera, installations, circus and major public events.

Eruption Muay Thai 20 will be the biggest Muay Thai event in Australia in recent years, featuring an Eruption Championship fight between Toby Smith and Charlie Bubb to determine the best Muay Thai fighter in Australia.

WORLD BOWLS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2020

23rd May - 7th Jun 2020

Queensland’s Gold Coast continues to entrench itself as the home of Bowls in Australia, with the 2020 World Championships to be held at three Gold Coast clubs. Broadbeach Bowls Club, Musgrave Hill Bowls Club and Club Helensvale will host the two-week long tournament, with over 240 bowlers expected to take part in one of the pinnacle international events in the sport. Australia will be hoping to better their haul of five gold medals from eight disciplines from the last time the event was held down under, at the 2012 World Championships in Adelaide.
